No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Re: weight loss group
11 st 8 lb today. Only one pound down this week - presumably the result of a very enjoyable evening out on the town on Saturday! Still, at least its still heading in the right direction even if rather slowly :)

Re: weight loss group
I weighed myself at 5am this morning - I woke up for the loo and thought "while I'm here....." and I seem to have lost 1lb
Not much but it has shown me that I'm heading in the right direction! I've had a great week, cutting down on portion size without feeling hungry, cutting down on treats without feeling deprived, doing more exercise and getting my brain into gear to think of menus to suit the whole family etc. I have more energy and I'm sleeping better too! I'm pretty sure that this week will be better weight loss wise too, as we went away for a couple of days last week and so ate out - therefore not as much control! I have to say that I've found this tread really encouraging - so keep up the good work!

Re: weight loss group
Well done to everyone who has lost this week and for those who have " only lost 1 pound" WELL DONE !!!! It might only be "1 pound" but that is virtually 4 STONES IN ONE YEAR. For those who buy large sacks of potatoes from the local veg shops these weigh 25 kg or 4 stone. Have a look at one of those, try lifting it and then say " i've only lost 1 pound!!

Re: weight loss group
Well done all, not sure if I have lost any weight,(no scales) but the dog definitely looks slimmer! we are starting agility class on Thursday, so should benefit us both! pbf.
Re: weight loss group
Mrs BA has lost 2.5 pounds this week, 5.5 pounds in total so far which is amazing in many ways. Last yerar she never lost weight 2 weeks in a row, she positivly bounds up our hill these mornings which she crawled up out of breath pre christmas and she tried on a pair of trousers today and they fit again. They were a "little tight here and there" but now they hang slack so that has saved me a few quid for new ones but also it shows that you don't need scales to keep on track with weight loss as you can tell " when the dog looks slimmer" lol.prison break fan wrote:Well done all, not sure if I have lost any weight,(no scales) but the dog definitely looks slimmer! we are starting agility class on Thursday, so should benefit us both! pbf.

For recipe ideas what do you have in the fridge / freezer or are you going to be buying for the menu? I ask as I go to Asda and buy what they have reduced and then make meals from that. Today I got smoked mackrel, belly pork, cod loins, lamb steaks a large pizza, chicken breasts, veg and fruit all reduced. In total I spent £44.62 but full price the items were over £92.00. From this lot i'll get at least 2 weeks meals for 3 of us and some ideas are butterfly the chicken breasts, breadcrumb them and grill. low fat creme freche, low fat cheese and garlic for a parmo. Lamb will be used for a tabouli type stew and some slow roast steaks, fish will be simple fish and chips and mushy peas. Fish cakes, a fish pie, and plain old smoked mackrel for a few breakies. All these will be with boiled or roast veg and potatoes again done in different ways.Milims wrote:I've just written this weeks menu and wondered what you were all planning to eat for main meals. The rest of the family aren't trying to loose weight so I have to make stuff that we all will enjoy.
Monday - Chicken Stir Fry - lots of veg and lean meat
Tuesday - Broth - boiled a very lean ham to make stock and added lots of veg and broth mix
Wednesday - Chicken curry - lean breast meat, and tomatoes to make the sauce - I did use oil to fry the chicken & onion - but I bought a rape seed oil spray so have managed to cut it right down and there is oil in the curry pasteI'll have more brown rice than sauce!
Thursday - Ham and salad (ham boiled earlier in he week -Sainsbugs be good range or something like that)
Friday - Chicken goujons -home made - with either salad or veg - the others can have potato wedges I think I'll stick to steamed new pots.
So what are you all planning - I could do with some inspiration for next week!
If you tell us what you have in we can advise better.
This thread is only as good as the people in it but I'm glad it's taken off as I did have my doubts when I started it. By looking here every day it keeps me from eating and then feeling guilty, eating and then giving up and then eating and staing fat... so thank you all for helping me.
EVEN IF PEOPLE HAVEN'T LOST THIS WEEK STILL POST AND IT WILL HELP.

Re: weight loss group
OK I will.
This is the weigh in Day for Me, Monday diet, Monday weigh in.
So I have stopped drinking for a whole week. Umm, this is the longest without alcohol for me in at least 5 years, and its been an "issue" for me for at least 20 years, so this is kind of important, I am in no way chemically dependant, but I did drink every day, and as much as 8 to 10 pints of cider a day...... Yeah I know. I just turned 40 and decided that I wasn't and couldn't spend another 20 years drinking too much, and I want a six pack and "guns" and be fit and healthy and motivated, and able to get on with the smallholding work. Right thats the background.
So this last week, with no drink, and some exercise, but not a strict diet, more a "everything from scratch" no junk detox type plan, with a few treats and ample Christmas Cake, I lost 3lb.
My target is to loose 50lb in 26 weeks, and be "sober" that long as well. So I think thats a good start. This week, I am looking forward to doing more.
I prefer telling people that I am dieting, rather than trying to sort out a dependance on alcohol, makes you feel better.
I love the internet, I could not admit what I just did to anyone else, except my wife obviously.

Thank you Big Al what a great way of looking at it. I was just about to eat a Bounty Bar, but have now given it to hubbyBig Al wrote:Well done Fran, You have lost 6.71% of your target weight loss.fran wrote:Should have posted this on Friday:

What a great bunch of losers we are

Good for you Boboff, especially with tackling the alcohol. Be careful, my hubby cut out alcohol for similar reasons and found that he had sugar cravings, apparently this is quite common. He found that exercise stopped that. After a long time without alcohol he can now have a drink once a week without any problems.

I just wonder if it's not all just a bit samey and if I could make something else that might be less fattening.

Re: weight loss group
I'm joining in this thread after a serious "telling off" from my doctor this morning. It went something like "Do you really want to be in line for diabetes?" No, not really! I have somewhere around 40lbs to go at. So the diet starts today and I shall try to report what I've lost every Monday. Does anyone keep tabs?
Growing old is much better then the alternative!
