all i can suggest is either a quick yoghurt and honey hit in the morning - maybe with a little museli/granola on top - that usually perks me up

i usually go with bananas on it in the morning and it really does help wake me up. to be honest though i think part of it maybe routine :dontknow: so a new morning one may help?

as for the keeping you going at work have you tried munching on trail mix? not every ones cup of tea but the nuts and raisins contain a fair bit of energy and surely that has to be better than bleached sugar?

I think working on the allotment and an hour a day pushing trolleys around in the trailer is enough for me. Trouble is... I can eat very little and the weight does not drop off :banghead:

I have rearranged my eating habit for work and have alot of fruit now that I can "safely" eat while on the move {if you get caught its your own fault} things like grapes etc. Its the drink wise that I look forward to when I done my shop delivery.. after the main delivery I have my legal break which I crack out the hot water flask and make a brew and have me sarnies... at 2am in the morning

Sugar, I am on the raw cane organic sugar - but the problem is still there :thumbright: think I will have to cut down on tea drinking from 5 cups to 1 somehow.. (as I take 2 teaspoons in my brew)
so looking around online, each heaped teaspoon is 25 cal so thats 50cal a brew or 250 a day.

Hummmm I should really cut down lol.

Interesting fact I've found out...

One (1) gram of fat, on the other hand, deliver 9 calories

and its 454 grams to 1lb. so.. to lose a lb in weight you have to...

9 cal x 454 gram = 4086 cal to loose by dieting or excise to lose "1lb" in weight.

Edit: other websites suggest that 1lb in weight loss is a 3500 cal reduction.

:pukeright: :pukeright: :pukeright: sorry doesn't "hit" the spot.

I tried them before as not keen... but tastes changed since I did it last 4 years ago.. Where can I find Yogi teas in shops? Gerenally it would be nice to find a selection box of different flavours so I can try each one (waste buying a box of 40 and only use 1?)

===========

More facts to read on...

but a very good rule of thumb is to assume that each pound of weight in our bodies takes 15 calories to maintain it (13 cals for women) So a 200lb man needs 3000 calories per day to maintain his present weight.

Rememeber its 14lb to a stone.. so in my case 17s 12lbs.. I would come in at 250lbs..

250lbs x 15cal (/lb) = 3750cals a day to maintain my weight so I don't gain or lose.. So.. to loss 2 lbs in a week I have to lose 7500cal from my diet over the week (1100 cal a day near enough) I think thats doable...

Will need to read some more up on this and start knocking up a plan to get me started.. don't get me wrong as I ain't done this cal counting thingy... as I a sort of lad at 28 just throw everything into the slow cooker and have a good heartly meal in the evenings with dumpings and mash + what not lol..

OK - I'm in. Although I eat pretty healthily, everything prepared from scratch (well ok not pasta - but that's my next thing to learn how to do!), nothing unnecessary added and pretty well balanced, my problem is portion size, cheese and wine! I've just weighed my self and I'm about 12.5 stone - so I could really do with losing at least a stone.

get a pound of flour, 00 is prefered and put in a heap on your bench. Make a well in the middle and crack in 2 eggs. mix together with your fingers until you have a kind of dough. Roll out as thin as you can and cut to your shape. boil some salted water and then drop your pasta bits into it. cook for 3-4 minutes and drain. You have fresh made pasta.

Also ecomick, you might be young now but that much sugar is going to get you diabetic in the future. I know it's a generalisation but with your job, eratic eating times and probably lack of exercise ........

Instead of making a full cup of tea with 2 sugars why not try half a cup with one sugar. Slowly over the course of 2 weeks graduallly fill the cup with water but only put in the same one spoon of sugar. Thus you have halfed the sugar and I bet you won't notice it. I done that with semi skimmed to skimmed milk.

3500 calories are regarded as 1 pound of fat over a week or 500 per day which is as little as 4 slices of toast without marg or 3 eggs or 6 plain digestive biscuits or 4 thick cut rashers of bacon. So for eco mick who is a trucker, 1 egg sarnie and one bacon sarnie missed per day is your goal [ i mean punishment, sorry].

Interesting way of doing it.. I will give that a go, thanks Al :king: - but I will skip the skimmed milk as its like water to me (friend uses it and her brews are not the most pleasent drink to be had lol)

I'm finding this very encouraging! I don't know my weight as I don't possess scales, but I am a size sixteen and 5ft 5ins tall, so probably need to lose a couple of stone. Would be happy to be a size fourteen! I too have gone for portion control, smaller plates, and NO snacking. Trouble is I was brought up to finish everything on my plate! I get plenty of exercise as I have a dog and two allotments. I am a vegetarian, so would be very happy to hear of any good recipes if anyone would like to share. Good luck all! pbf.

beans on toast !

well it's veggie isn't it ?

Those two lines were the advice given to me by my previous slimming world advisor when I was a veggie back in days of yore...

Have a look at the vegetarian society as they will always have interesting and good meals to promote vegeterianism and to get away from the typical " do you only eat lentils then?" questions and yes they still exist.

I am leaning towards going veggie again but there is a lot of meat in the freezer still to use.

Snacking is ok provided it's not crisps and chocolate etc. Celery for instance..... you use up more calories eating celery than you derive from the product.

Stuffed peppers.

Cut the top of a red. green or yellow sweet bell pepper and scoup out the white pith and seeds.Boil some rice and add some tumeric, sliced chillies, some garlic, and some juice from say lemon or lime. mix together and stuff into the pepper. Warm up in the microwave and eat when hot. Try other things like adding balsamic vinigar, fried onions, fried tomatoes, garlic chillies and some torfu either in place of the rice or with some rice. The frying is done with a half tsp of good olive oil just to grease the pan.

Great idea Big Al! I'd love to join in but haven't got any scales and I'm 'not buying anything new'!!
That doesn't mean I'm not watching my diet and trying to get some exercise though, I just can't tell how much I might lose/gain :dontknow:
