The last I heard, the council were working their way around with the cavity wall insulation and had the bungalows finished. I'll have to find out if they're still doing that following the recent cuts to their budget. As for draughts, we had a major draft in the living room, but I've finally found the cause of it - the living room door being left ajar!

OMG not more loft insulation! We have a ridiculous amount of it. So much, in fact, that we couldn't see the beams to walk on, and when we wanted to board some of the loft so we could use the area for storage, we had to move half of the insulation so that the boards would sit on the beams. It wouldn't even squash down enough with OH standing on it.

It felt like it was coming from the window, but when you shut the living room door properly, the draught stops. I really don't have a problem keeping my house warm, and comparing our bills to other people's, ours are really low. I'll see what I can find out about our current boiler - it's about 10 years old, serves both the hot water and the central heating, and it's well maintained, that's all I know about it.

FWIW, I switch my gas and leccy suppliers at the very least every 12 months but frequently do it every 4-6 months. I use cashback sites and enjoy cheap prices.
