500 w inverter

Post: # 216724Post Big Al »

I was in halfords and saw this

http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/product ... ?prod=1362

on sale for £79.99. Anyone got any thoughts on wether this will be worth investing in ?

I'm really actually surprised that halfords havethis sort of thing in stock but then I've not been in the shop for years.

It all depends what you want to use it for BA.
Don't believe them when they say you can run a TV or DVD player though. It's a modified sine inverter and would almost certainly put lines and bars on the picture and probably a hum on the sound.
It would be fine for lights, charging phone batteries ... that sort of thing.

that's what i thought Tony, It seemed too cheap to be a decent one. Still it peaked my intrest enough to look into solar panels again.

Yes, it depends on the intended use, I would choose an inverter rated at twice the anticipated load in order to avoid starting surges destroying it. They don't like it.
