Third day of being snowed in. Well over a foot now. Garden has disappeared, just glad I heeled in the bareroot fruit trees that arrived the day before the snow! Poor DH is on holiday and was wanting to plant said trees this week!!!
Lost our compost bin almost...

The hedge around the front garden is now covered...

Wow that's lots of snow - I've never seen so much snow and I lived 7 years at the foothills of the Jura mountains.

Moved the chooks this morning into a covered outbuilding as they weren't coming out of their coup for food and water. Was up to my gonads in some parts of the garden so that is at least 30 inches. Snowing very heavily again right now.

Well we have glorious sunshine today - so much so we've let the boiler go out (although it'll be a quick scramble to light it again come sundown  ) and the loch is starting to thaw.

Hope it continues - I have to drive to Oxford next week!

Looking at the roof of the shed, I'd say about 8 or 10 inches, and the bloody stuff is still falling from the sky. The gritters don't do our estate, either (we're too poor), so the street is full of cars that have been abandoned in the middle of the road. No idea where OH will park tonight, because he'll not get into the street.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

We now have far too much. Even Tank the Poodle wouldn't venture very far up the garden. Top that with a 7-hour power cut (just, obviously, ended) and we are now pissed off. In capitals. Definitely unpleased.

(But I have some cracking photos of the orchard in the snow. If only I could remember what to do with photos ...).

There is probably 10inches to a foot of snow in the garden. Where it gets interesting is when that speads out between about 4inches in one place and the rest of the snow piled up about 2feet in small drifts.
Not sure if a gritter or plough has been through the village but the trains are currently running and so I've been able to get to work in the centre of Manchester which has a small amount of snow but much more ice about which is not nice to walk on.

well the trains don't sound like they're working, the bus routes have been gritted. we have about 8in so far, i actually had to dig out the back gate yesterday so we could get to a shop to get milk!

got outside, saw some of my numpty neighbours assumed the council would still be collecting the rubbish (WTF?!) and then had to physically dig my volvo out.

we're doing ok. got the car to supermarket and home again with the help of a shovel and an opened out hessian sack.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very
