Hi from some newbies

We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.

Hi from some newbies

Post: # 20724Post Masco&Bongo »

Hi everyone...

We've just in the middle of buying a house with a huge garden and some extra land (and a greenhouse and veg patch), and we've got all sorts of plans for growing our own fruit/veg and raising some chickens.

We're pretty much total novices really, the most I have done is have some houseplants and some herbs outside in pots! I'm not even great at that!

Although we won't be moving in for a month or so, we're trying to find out as much about being Self Sufficient Ish as possible!

We may not post loads, but i'm sure eventually we'll have all sorts of questions about growing/planting etc!

Thanks!

Shelley & Mark

Hi Shelley and Mark
Welcome to the site!

I'm sure you'll be too busy with moving house without spending all night at the computer posting on this site... But you are in the right place. We are all good at learning from each other!

What part of the country - well, which country in the first place! - are you moving to?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I would not worry about the lack of experience you will soon learn what grows well for you and hopefully will be pleasently surprised.

ina - we're in Lancashire, just outside Blackpool

We're only moving about 10 miles away from where we currently are, but we're moving from a little suburban estate (which is a nice place to live - but too crowded for us) to Over Wyre - more rural, lots of little farms and small holdings etc

I'm looking forward to having neighbours who aren't so close, a big garden for our puppy to run around in and somewhere peaceful to spend our weekends!
