what to do with russets???

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Why not just store them for later use then when you have some space in the freezer after eating all those crumbles you can make some more.

Don't they store quite well? If not, I would just cook/steam them and freeze, then you could decide later whether to use them for cakes/apple sauce or whatever. Just served like that with custard or cream is nice as a dessert in winter.

We used to have this problem. We used to wrap each one in individually newspaper and then box 'em in the cellar or in the utility room (cool dark place). Check on them occasionally to make sure none have gone bad -- ours used to keep until Feb/March like this, so even in a glut it wasn't a problem. Usually by that point we could either stomach apples again, or find someone who wanted some...

That's what I meant about storing them, I'm sure you'll be happy to eat crumble or anything else made from apples again in a month's time, or 2 months, or 3.
