Hello,

I am new to this site, found it through mumsonline.

I don't know if I ma living the good life, but it's certainly a busy one. I have one son, nearly 2 yrs, and a hubby who is a bit rubbish in the garden, but keen. We moved back to Cumbria over a year ago, and are now surrounded by relatives. We lived in London for three years, and I used to grow quite a lot there (greenhouse crops and some squashes).

I am mainly container gardening as dh keeps saying we should move house, and I am not going to put in all the graft just to leave it!

I try to be eco-friendly, and hopefully will raise ds to be an eco-warrior (although the only way he can rebel is to be a corporate high flyer, his daddy and I being arty lefties).

Won't waffle on (i'm supposed to be working), but is there anyone else in Cumbria???

Hello! I will keep a look out on the Cumberland Gap (before they spend lots of money transforming it, and catching snakes).

I see I've been transformed myself, into Margo! I will have to dig out some of my mum's old "best" frocks!

I did purchase some lilac gardening gloves the other day though... :geek:

Hi Susan, and welcome to the site!

I think you are quite right to stick to containers - this year you have the added advantage that slugs are easier control that way! And if we get yet another night frost, you can quickly move everything inside...

In which way are you both "arty"?

hi everyone

Ina - we have both worked in theatre for many years, in lots of different places in many different guises. I now run arts and movement workshops for little 'uns, hoping to become more involved with forest schools.

Art as relaxation has ceased to even be a memory, as it has been a career for so long.

Unfortunately my cucmber seedlings were early casualties of the cold snap (or was it a warm snap?), as I had just transferred them to their outdoor plot, when the weather turned. Bah! I'll keep them in the conservatory from now on!

You have a mate who is a bit rubbish in the garden?

I think we should start a thread on that. It could be hilarious...

Dumb things the OH did!

I'd be laffin for hours, remembering...relating... and reminding myself to be patient, cos at least they had a go!
