New chickens ~ Light Sussex

Post: # 212138Post Darroch »

I am lucky enough ( or not! !) to have a friend who lives near by who breeds chickens. DH and I spent this morning making a new house ( this is not a permanent home - it's just to introduce them to my original chickens and use as an additional house, broody house, sick bay etc! they'll be ranging free soon) then we nipped round to my friends house to pick up 2 new additions. Gertrude and Geraldine. Light Sussex.
They are adorable!

It didn't take them long to come down the wee ladder and have a sunbathe!

I'm very predictable  and after getting Snowy and Blackie I decided from then on I should name mine after their colours (we'd already had a Ginger), so then I got Cinders and Bree (the red head in Desperate Housewives). Half of these hens sadly are no more and I don't know when I'll be getting any more, I just wonder if I can find any green or pink ones to ring the changes.
