Maybe i'm not very clear, are you going to plant beans( other than broad beans ) outside now? That could be a prob,or I may have got the wrong end of the stick.

SFG, try corn salad and the winter leuttice varieties (damn can't remember the names, 'arctic king' from memory? Also endive and raddicio (oh god, sorry about the spelling!).
And if you are anywhere near Whitehall in Lacock again soon, they had all sorts of winter and spring cabbage plug plants which can go out now.
Oooh, nearly forgot, what about rainbow chard?? I sowed some two weeks ago, and it is almost 6 inches tall already - may need a cloche while it grows up, but I don't think it is too late?
Ooooooh not to forget perpetual spinach.
I am really trying this year to keep things going through winter in the garden - usually I loose interest in about June after the main flush of sowing/seedling raising enthusiasm has worn off.
Good luck though, sounds fab. Who needs flowers anyway?

right, I'll crack on with the curry pot then! meanwhile- Beans? I think I'll give it a go. Providing I can get outside this weekend. Rain is seemingly constant at the moment, and the 'rents are heading down at the weekend! eeek!
