Thats what I was up to at 5.30 this morning.........
I was woken up by the most awful noise, I honestly thought something was after the chooks as I could hear loads of clucking and crowing-when I looked out of the window I saw my young Light sussex cockeral (Gonzo 5months) prancing and strutting his funky stuff to my new silkies, he had managed to push a couple of panels out of the end of his run and had dug a scoop to give him room and made a bolt for freedom. This display really upset Rocky (Silkie cock approx 6mths) and he was crowing with all his might! Now I have very good neighbours, but I thought this would be pushing it a bit as it was VERY noisy so I dressed in a dash and chased Gonzo around the garden for about 40mins 'til he gave up. Why do these things always happen when
a) OH is on-call at work
b) I'm in the house on my own
c) After eldest son had a disturbed night due to a poorly tummy
d) Tipping down with rain
ahhh the mysteries of the universe
Kind thoughts
Deb
PS Gonzo has now been placed in the 'grown up' run, I was acclimatising him slowly but as he had done his best to destroy the batchelor pad I thought he could take his chances!

I know it probably didn't seem funny at the time, but I couldn't help laughing just now! I think that was just a typical young man's protest at not being taken seriously.
Yep, livestock keep you on your feet. So far I've not had to chase the goats that early in the morning, but you never know when they'll find a way of breaking out of the oh-so-secure inclosure.

thankfully ours can make as much noise as they want whenever they want... although it did bring to mind memories of David chasing a rooster around the garden ready for collection by a freecycler!! I wish I had had a video camera.
- think this has to be your emoticon!!!
