hello again.

Post: # 209334Post Jerseymum »

I'm not a newbie, I've just been absent for a long time and finally have the time to rejoin this wonderful site.
My name is Sarah and last time I was posting, regularly, I was teaching in Jersey :banghead: and doing what I could in a small flat, which was, basically, very little. Since then, we have moved to Shropshire, bought a house (with an actual garden :flower: - a Jersey luxury) and now have space to grow our own fruit and veg and harvest our beautiful, bountiful apple tree.
We are a few months off getting some chickens (that goal is almost in sight) and have just started our own cider production, as well as brewing all sorts of country wines from fruit we have grown, or which friends donate (and we return the favour with bottles of the end product), or which we have foraged in the local woodlands. I think it will be a very merry festive season :drunken:
We can now afford to make our own bread, yoghurt, cheese, jam, chutney, compost, clothes...basically, we are loving the life we can have in the UK where we can walk the kids to school and have the option to reduce, reuse, recycle.
Can't wait to find new ways to keep my family self-sufficientish.
Sarah
