get rid of walnut staining

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

get rid of walnut staining

Post: # 208306Post welshmum »

 ok so I went to get some latex gloves from my husbands stock and he'd run out so I thought that I am only looking at some for interests sake so what harm can I do... Suffice to say I will never that mistake again!
Any suggestions on how to get my fingertips looking at least a little respectable.

Time. Lemon juice might help a bit but it is a fairly permanent stain (my jeans will attest to that) but skin comes off thankfully so it won't stay on your hands forever. Tip to remember for the future is not to try to get walnuts out of the green casing without wearing gloves. I know I've done it too!

New skin is probably the solution. It may take about 10 days to return to normal. Walnut is sure one amazing stain. My walnuts are not ready yet, and I expect to harvest about 1000 to 2000 nuts, and will use old clothes when doing so, and many latex gloves.

heh heh, those of us who do natural dyeing know full well that walnut is permanent; doesn't even need a mordant. lovely colour - when it's where it's wanted. if i was you i'd treat the rest of your skin and pretend you've been on holiday to get a nice tan. [sorry; that was nasty of me wasn't it? i'm afraid time and a complete change of skin cells is your only hope]

Certainly is a possibility for getting an artificial suntan, without too much harm.

Well I guess dark brown would make a nice change from this celebrity orange that seems to be the in thing.
