Hello from the USA

Post: # 207690Post becky3086 »

Hi all,
I have been to selfsufficientish.com several times and never noticed the forum :dontknow: Love the great information on this site.
Anyway, I live here in Thomson, GA in the US. Phil and I have a very small place here but we have chickens, ducks, quail, one pheasant, some dogs and cats and one lone fish that has lived through my sorry tank cleanings.
My 17 year old daughter lives here as well as does my daughter-in-law and grandson Christian (1 yr last month). I have two sons. One is in the Army in Germany right now. The other is in the Army as well (this is the father of the grandson who lives with us), he went into Basic Training this year and broke his ankle on the third day-falling down the stairs. Right now he is back at the base in South Carolina for rehabilitation and then will go back to Basic Training again if they fell the ankle can handle it. (the daughter-in-law is deaf, by the way, but she can hear-just not well-with her hearing aid).
We have a small garden and some raised beds. I have fruit and nut trees all over the yard. We are very much in the country on a little dirt road by a lake.
I work at the Boys and Girls Club in town. It is a tough job as we are located in the projects here and are mostly used by parents who can't afford daycare after school. We do our best to provide a safe learning/fun environment for the kids. Last year and all through the summer we had 110 kids but this year we are only up to about 70 in all. I don't make much but enjoy it immensely.

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
