Back again for good this time.

Post: # 204451Post MaryContrary »

Hi all, was at the allotment today harvesting the beetroot, and thought "I really must get back into Selfsufficientish!" I did join a couple of years ago, but life just got so busy I found myself visiting less and less.

Anyway, I'm in Devon and am a gardener by trade and mum to two boys 7 & 9; I'm also coming to the end of a three-year journey studying to be a counsellor. Eventually I would love to be working in horticultural therapy, but enough about me!

Looking forward to joining you on the forum. :flower:

Welcome back m'dear!

Horticultural therapy sounds absolutely marvellous, by the way...there are clear links between gardening and improvement in mental health, and I'm standing proof of that - I have BPD, and I've found pottering around in the back garden and our community garden to be the most wonderful medicine of all. Despite having two children, I am still amazed and ridiculously excited when I see the first seedlings.......my 4 year old thinks I love my plants more than I love him (categorically not true, but close when he's in tantrum mode. My chard never argues back, or demands sweets).
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone, especially welcome as I have just spent the afternoon in A&E as youngest son has fractured his foot! And guess how? By jumping off the shed roof!!! Another use for a shed that I had not thought of. Bizarrely after 3 X-rays they are unsure where the fracture is, so they have sent him home limping, booked in tomorrow 8am for an MRI scan before putting the cast on, and they say the NHS is overstretched

PS. Twiglet, think you are so right about gardening being helpful, couldn't do without it.
