Hello from Australia

Post: # 203344Post alisonbau »

Hi Everyone,
I'm from Canberra (the nations capital) Australia. I've been vegi gardening for many years. I grow all the usual things peas carrots beans tomatoes pumpkins etc but I also love to grow the unusual. This year I'm taking a punt at giant pumkins and a type of kale called Chou Moullier. You harvest it leaf by leaf, starting at the bottom of the stem and work your way up. Suppost to get to 3-4 ft tall. ( not sure off hand what that is in new money) :)
I'm not sure how giant the pumpkins will be as my previous effort at growing a giant plant resulted in the worlds shortest "Giant Russian Sunflowers" My tallest was bearly a metre high, much to the mirth and merryment of my family. Still the birds loved them so it wasn't a complete failure.

I'm really into the heirloom vegis and get my seeds from various seed savers around the country.

I've had a quick look round the site and its amazing. Scads of info and experience to tap into and everyone seems very friendly.

Cheers Alison

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Ooh sorry I am late! Hullo, it is true this is the friendliest bestest forum ever.
I hope you aren't freezing too much, I live down in Tassie but spent the first 22 years of my life in Canberra. What part of the Capital are you in?
