Definately do not have any guilty feelings towards the shoes, you could always use them to kill the slugs after you have worn them out, so they may have a secondary purpose

They are soooooooo delish, I am totally jealous of anyone who can wear shoes like my feet are size nine and just as wide as they are long, so I don't do shoes.

I would go further and recommend that you up your intake of shoes to five a day as per government guidelines.
I quite agree

Lovely shoes, don't blame you at all for falling for them. My weakness is earrings and I have so many pairs it's crazy - but I can't resist. Hope the wedding goes well

Hehe, thanks all, I feel a bit better now.
And Keanie, I know what you mean, I am a size 8 and have feet like a hybrid of Mrs Doubtfire and Bilbo Baggins, so had to grab the last pair of 8's when I saw them!
Wore them the other night to break them in, I think I am now getting the hang of it. I was walking like an Emu for most of the evening but think I can now walk in them OK, it's only pain right?
They were Debenhams btw (think someone asked).

Bonnie, they are fab!!
A couple of weeks ago I signed up for a extremely un-ishy gym membership for myself and the family. I have found that all of this home baking, plus baby number three have added inches all over my body. Plus we have lots of fun there, and its somewhere that I can take all of my kids swimming and not have to chose two of them
Its making us happy and healthy so thats all that matters. I just have to gloss over the poorer part, and be more ishy in other areas to make up for it.

Tell me about it Sunflowergirl, I was convinced that six solid months of digging plus the hours of weeding, watering, hoeing, pig feeding, chook chasing and everything else would soon have my ample size 14 frame down to an 8. And that because we were making our own food, we would eat it sparingly and enjoy the quality not the quantity of cheap stuff you buy at the supermarket.
But for some reason it isn't working...my boyf has discovered baking and so we constantly have gorgeous warm bread all over the place...he does cakes too, and although there are only two of us we seem to manage to chow down a family sized lemon drizzle cake in a couple of days. And we have so many potatoes, we just have to make chips out of them. Not to mention the billions of jars of homemade jam, sugary elderflower cordial and sloe gin (which I remember using two whole bags of sugar to make). And so rather than the 8 I am now verging on the 16
It's not fair.
I console myself with the thought that I am not polluting my body with the nasty cancer causing chemicals in 'fake' food - which is fine but at this rate I am due for a heart attack instead!

Nothing wrong with shoes.. they're my absolute weakness although I was made to have a cull when we moved house! I usually buy clothes new too as I really really cannot sew (I'd love to be able to). I do get things altered/repaired though rather than replacing them unnecesssarily. If you usually make/cook your own things, recycle and consider the environment I don't think you should feel too bad about the occasional new purchase, especially for a special occasion. In any case - how hard would it be to actually make a pair of shoes like that?!! Enjoy wearing them

Hmm. Cut an old car tyre up, stand on the inside, trace around your feet and then cut out the soles. Hammer a six-inch nail down through the heel area and cap the points with cut-down wine bottle corks. Get an old leather belt, cut it into thin strips, and staple the ends to the sole. Weave the strips back and forth to make the uppers, using one strip on each shoe to make a loop behind the ankles. Freecycle a couple of cans of gloss red paint and give the shoes a good coat.Shirleymouse wrote:. In any case - how hard would it be to actually make a pair of shoes like that?!!
Voila! A pair of red, home-made Ish six-inch heels...
And now everyone knows why my OH prefers to wear wellies!
