Anyone Know Good Elderflower Picking Spots in Bristol UK?

Post: # 197766Post urbanspaceman »

Hi

I'm new here. At the moment this year I decided to start growing my own veg and herbs in a walk in green house on my balcony, windows boxes, hanging baskets and a converted water but with half pots cut into the sides. :-) I have never done this before and so far I'm finding things out fast and enjoying what I am doing.

However I also decided to do some foraging to make some home brews so I bought some equipment and had some given to me but I cannot for the life of me find any elder flowers in Bristol, hawthon yes, lilac yes, of which are very similar at a glance, but no elder flowers?

has anyone any ideas of where in Bristol you can find any?

Thanks

LyssaM

I'm not in bristol so wouldn't know... but try this site: http://duo.irational.org/food_for_free/ if you scroll down it has a link to a map of bristol and tells you were loads of things are.... not sure if it has elderflowers on it so you'll have to check that yourself. Goodluck with the elderflower hunt... they've only just come out here so I'm gonna be going elderflower picking after the kids are back at school next week!

Hmm, I can help you for next year. I only realised the other day that we have 2 elderflower trees in the garden, and now the blooms are nearly all disappeared :-( now looking for elderberry recipes. I know of one elder tree in Winterbourne, at least I think it is - is that anywhere near you?
I changed my signature because it was rubbish; I like what you said
