I am just looking further into our plan to make two new raised beds in our garden. I am thinking of transfering our Rhubarb out of pots and into a bed. Does anyone know how much room a plant will roughly take up please?
Thanks Nikki

Re: Rhubarb
Quite a lot, depending on how far you let it spread. If you split it every year or so you could probably keep the plant quite small(ish) but it will still take up a lot of room for its big leaves - I don't know if you could grow shade loving plants under it

Re: Rhubarb
If it's happy and can put down a good root system it will need about a square yard/metre, or maybe slightly less.
Think carefully where you want it as they are difficult to get out once established with a huge root (like a dock .. same family)

Re: Rhubarb
I would suggest a three foot diameter for rhubarb growth. Under ideal growing conditions the plant can get quite large. I recently spit my four plants due to overcrowding, and I was displeased with the size of the stalks.thesunflowergal wrote:I am just looking further into our plan to make two new raised beds in our garden.
