How do i make Honeygar?
Hi, i was reading about Ranulph Fiennes use of Honeygar, which by the sounds of it is mainly honey and cider vinegar. Reading further it seems there are supposed to be more than one health advantage for taking it. What does anyone else think? Does anyone on here take it? If so, do you have a recipe i could follow? Thanks.

My mother used to swear by it. On the other hand, she also swore by Biochemic Tissue Salts, which were a straightforward Edwardian con. Having said that, honey has antibiotic properties and vinegar of any description has antiseptic properties (although it may be the other way around
). She used to use two teaspoons of honey and two teaspoons of cider vinegar dissolved in a glass of hot water - drunk daily either hot or after it had gone cold.
My personal opinion is that it's a myth - but I'm naturally cynical. It certainly can't do you any harm.

EDIT: I've just read the article you may have read. It's basically an advert for a commercial brand (whose manufacturers insist that malic acid has an alkaline effect on the blood
). Apart from the scientific bullcrap, don't waste your money on premixed stuff - it's dead easy to obtain cider vinegar and honey in any supermarket, so you can mix your own and save an awful lot of money.

Thanks as ever MKG! Won't buy the already mixed branded stuff but would make it. There's a lot of debate though as to its efficacy :-s

I have a friend who swears by it to relieve the symptoms of arthritis. She told another friend about it but the other friend wouldn't use it unless she could buy it as a pill

I worked briefly with an electrician who'd previously been retired on sick grounds - he had Rheumatoid Arthritis and had the enlarged knuckles. Anyway he could no longer perform his job because of the fine finger movements needed.
He was advised to take cider vinegar, 1tbsp each morning in warm water, and after 6 months he was back at work (which is where I met him) and off all his RA medication!!! No mention of honey but that's a good, all-round immune booster (Well the good stuff is - don't get the blended and pasteurised stuff).
