Hi to all, Im a newbie, help?!

Post: # 199064Post TotallyPotty »

Hi to all,
Ive recently started a whole lot of vegies that Ive never planted before, dont ask me why I did it, just a mad, spur of the moment thing!!! Anyway, Ive got young cucumbers, aubergines, chillies and peppers going on as well as main crop potatoes, strawberries, rhubarb, lettuce and sweetcorn and broad beans. Just thought I may be saying all this in the wrong place. But just wanted to say "hi" from Burnley, Lancashire.

Hi, Thanks very much for the very warm welcome!!! Now that you come to mention "help". Since being the proud (kinda - more like nervous!) keeper of 2 aubergines and 3 cucumbers, I could do with some pointers with these! But Im not sure of where the "posts" should go or do they go there by some kind of techno magic??? Can anyone "point" me in the right direction? Thanks again. This is a WONDERFUL site!!!!!!!! TP

If you look just under the banner at the top of the page and click on "board index" it will take you to all the categories e.g. livestock or whats in the pot. It gives you a brief description of the sort of topics that fit in each.

Have a good look round - you can also do searches for previous topics in the blue search box on the banner. The orange one above it will search the main site.

Have a play - you can't break anything (she says with confidence :dontknow: )

Oh and if you do start a thread in the wrong section, don't worry, an obliging mod will shift it for you

Hi Green Aura,

Thanks very much! Ive had a quick look in between following all advice re underplanting but have a few questions to ask re guidance of plant growth etc, and will follow your helpful advice and Ill try not to put anything in the wrong place!! lol!

P.s. If that is a pic of your poli tunnel, its fab. Wish I had a space in my 8 feet by 6 feet concrete yard for that, but making do with plastic 1 1/2" feet by 3" greenhouse which now full to bursting with only 2 toms (gardeners delight and ailsa craig) a cucumber plant, (I dont know the variety altho I was told it was a dwarf - but it doesn't look like a dwarf now!!!!! and Ive fitted in 2 aubergines for the heat, although they are still in their own pots! Hope Ive done all the plants the right way!!

Hi and welcome
The great thing about planting veg is that you get a chance to have another go next year. And each year you get a little bit better at it. Well that's the theory anyway.

Cheers
Zoe
