Hello at last

Post: # 198960Post JessieMac »

Hi from Galloway in south west Scotland with thanks to the moderators that helped me to find my way in.
I work with my husband making artisan silver jewellery, we live in an old cottage that is trying to fall down faster than we can fix it ,at the moment it is a dead heat.
Our aim is to make it to the stage where we are as off the grid as possable with our limited funds,a simple life with as few complications as we can manage.
We are veggies and I am death to all kinds of electronics so if your computer throws a wobbly while you are reading this I am sorry in advance. :flower: Jessica.

Yay, you made it

Hello from up in sunny Lanarkshire - my 250 YO cottage has been having a little help falling down from my incompetent builders :( so glad to hear that you are at least giving your cottage a run for it's money

Make your self at home, pull up a pew, pour yourself a cuppa.

Hi Jessica and welcome to Ish  Sorry you had problems getting started. Glad you're here now.

I'm even further north - I think we're starting to lay a track straight up the West of Scotland (although my sense of geography's pretty poor!)

Hello from cold and drizzly Tasmania (although from what I understand of Scottish weather you might think it positively Summery here right now!)- our house (2 cojoined cottages) is a mere spring chicken of 114 years- but it has been built on a swamp so it is doing a great job of trying to disappear down a sink hole- my sympathies go to you!
I am a forum addict and I can honestly say this is the best online community I have come across, not cliquey, very supportive and informative and funny without being "sugary-nice" and politically correct all the time. Enjoy reading asking and learning here- I know I do!

I don't believe you lot are all up in Scotland... according to our news in Ireland today, 97% of scots live on fast food & are the unhealthiest folk in the UK....... they obviously didn't survey you lot!!

Welcome to Ish Jessie!!

Hi Jessie
from a wee bitty further north
good luck with your cottage etc

and yes Julie, the stats are correct - if you are male and live in the east end of glasgow you can expect an avge life expectancy of somewhere between 48-54 years - shocking!

Wow fruitcake - that's not good :(

So far this year, Andy has 'lost' 4 work colleagues & seen a further 4 end up with heart problems in hospital - 2 of which cannot return to work & they are all in the same age bracket.
Scary.
