Heavy rain?

Post: # 19770Post Tigerhair »

At the end of Gardener's world Monty said there might be heavy rain about this weekend/early next - how should I protect my baby plants? Will fleece cloche affair do the job?

Bit late, this reply... Anyway, did you get the heavy rain? We've not had much - some rain last night and today, but not exactly heavy!

Fleece might not be strong enough for small seedlings, if it's really heavy rain.

We'd already had heavy rain by the time Gardeners World was on. A downpour of biblical proportions.

Having said that, my boyfriend - who lives all of 8 miles away - had no rain at his place...

We had rain. Lots of rain. Destroyed a corgette plant and was the last straw for our peas (which I thought were pretty robust). As an experiment I did cover a couple of my strawberry plants in 2ltr bottle cloches - but I don't think they made a difference to be honest!
Just because it feels good, it doesn't make it right.
