Nothing Growing!

Post: # 195706Post fumanchu »

I got given a lot of seeds and planted them out. Nothing at all is doing well. They are all at the two tiny leaf stage and are not getting any bigger. :( I have Kale -which I got told would grow anywhere, even Siberia !! - flat turnip, white beetroot, chard, rocket, spring onions, and leeks. It's getting on and still nothing is coming away , maybe is too colld? What can I do now to get some veggies this autumn? :angryfire:

It's cold - pray for warmth. It's also very dry indeed and your seedlings may well need regular watering. If you haven't been watering you can at least do that. But not too much in the cold weather - little and often but only when the last lot has dried out.

Same problem down here. Even the lawn isn't growing.

5 degrees is warm at night  don't worry everything will spring to life eventually, just after the long winter and late spring stuff in the veg patch is taking its time to get going.

Not so the perennial plants which are going crazy with the lack of water and some plants have got flower buds on that shouldn't be flowering before July! :( :dontknow:

My chard and spinach has been taking its sweet time to grow but its getting there. Nothing to panic about, sometimes thats the way it is.

If you have any seeds left, try planting them inside in pots before transplanting them outside. Leeks quite like being moved around and tend to have a growth spurt each time you move them so I would suggest planting them inside anyway.

When you tranplant leeks, "dib" a hole then drop the plant in. Don't back-fill it with soil, but fill it with water, & let the water wash the soil in.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.
