Two different worlds - but I know which one I like best!

Post: # 190577Post Milims »

I've recently been head hunted for a new job. So I left my part time job in the balloon shop to become an assistant property auction manager for a national company (homes under the hammer for real) - talk about extremes! It's been a hectic 2 weeks learning a new job, falling into the shoes of my manager who was fired 3 days after I got there , jetting around the midlands with the training manager and planning my next months worth of visits and hotel bookings. I've had to dress up in business attire and even wear heels  But despite the apparent excitement and glamour I know where I'm happiest. Tonight I've had the loveliest peaceful homely evening. We've had home made bean and sausage casserole for tea, there's a fresh loaf out of the bread maker, my DOH has been doing some work in the garden and the chickens laid 6 eggs. It really does feel like I'm living 2 different lives - but I like my simple one best  :love4:
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Good grief! Is there any job you haven't done?
Congratulations on the new job. It sounds rather hectic, but that just serves to make your time at home even more pleasurable. It's been a while since I wore business attire and heels! I bet you feel really posh in them don't you?

Congratulations on the new job. Make sure you keep your feet on the ground (even if they are in high heels!). I know from experience that it is all too easy to let the job take over. Now I make sure that it is the other way round, but it was tough to bring back the balance.

Oh my - that sounds awful :( (I would have stayed with the balloons)

Is it all people's houses where they've run out of money and been thrown out?

No not at all - in fact reposessions are few and far between for us. It's simply a different and more often faster way to sell your house - it can be as quick as 28 days! With the added advantage that there is no cost to the seller. It works really well for houses that have been on the market for a long time or for people who are locating and have to move quickly.

Congratulations on the new job!

I love my (two days at) work. I totally agree that it makes you really appreciate what you have at home. but echoing what others have said, just make sure that you keep grubbing around with the likes of us, or you might start getting upset when you break a finger nail!

Oooo! We used one of those firms when we sold out to move to Ireland!
Yeah, yeah, there were a few folks around who said we were crazy because we sold for 25K less than the house was worth..... we can stick 2 fingers up at them now though - if we'd put it on the market 'properly', it would have taken months to sell & the way the market went, we would have probably got the same amount anyway!!

In our defence, we had bought the house 6 years earlier & we sold at treble what we'd paid, so everyone was happy - plus the fact that it took just 5 weeks until the cash was in the bank & it got us to Ireland superfast

Enjoy your double life, Milims - and watch those heels, I'm so out practice with heels nowadays I'm sure I'd fall off if I donned a pair now!
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

And you'd have had to pay the mortgage all that time too - and probably vendors fees - so if you add all that together and compare it to your 25k "loss" I wonder how much it would really have been!
