No the pure white ones are called 'chair' which means flesh - these are the ones for the pot.

The white with a bit of black are 'Sussex' - they are light Sussex.

There was a 'Hollandais' last time I was buying but which one of the Dutch breeds was it I wonder?

And talking of eggs my light Sussex has just come back into lay after her usual 5 months off!

So exciting! Hope your chickens like their new home.

The garden center down the road from my place also sells chickens. They have a consistent turn over so clearly chicken keeping is becoming more popular. Just hope it doesn't result in a surplus of unwanted biddies at the rehoming shelters in a few years time... :pale:

Not yet Gert.

Gem, they seem too. I hope not either :?

Two more eggs today. One had been laid whilest they where on the perch, so it was all cracked. The shell seemed a little soft, they have grit so hopefully they will use it.

Eldest took two eggs and some feathers into school to show her class. The teacher would like me to take a hen in to school, but they have to check the health and safety side of things. :(
