This may not be as practical as knitting a sweater, but it was fun to build and it works, and I think it is pretty nifty. Perhaps someone here will find it useful.
I wanted a way to record the depth of my well automatically. I knew that the level in the summer was quite low and that it recharged slowly, but, being a techie nerd, I wanted to know just how low and how slowly.
The result is this Rube Goldberg contraption. My project. I use air pressure to blow bubbles down at the bottom of the well. The computer measures the pressure, which gives me a depth reading, and records the results every five minutes.
Now, when I have guests, I will be able to print out a graph showing them exactly why they need to conserve water.
