Re: Walking Onions
realseeds.co.uk did them last year, it might be a bit early for them yet on the site though... although it wouldn't hurt to email them?
Alternatively...
http://plantswithpurpose.co.uk/store/in ... cts_id=549
Or try googling 'tree onions' as well?
Good luck - a fun plant!

Brill! Thank you v much.
Re: Walking Onions
If you can't find any, I have a few to get you started... I know them as perpetual onions... came from some Bulgarian friends... they keep haircutting the green bits and use them (like chives) in salads and soups etc. They seem to take a lot of abuse and survive :-)
My mistake was to plant them too far away from the kitchen.

Re: Walking Onions
I've had these for years, they are trouble-free, easy and they are infinitely self-perpetuating. Botanically they are Allium cepa Proliferum Group and are also known as tree onions. I would be happy to give you some for the cost of postage.

Re: Walking Onions
ahhh, saw this post and wondered what walking onions were - suspected they were maybe tree onions cos I've never known what else they are called. We had them when I was wee and I badgered my dad to find me some - which he managed to do last year
So I have loads too if anyone wants a few I'll happily stick'em in the post

Re: Walking Onions
wish I'd seen this earlier - have just bought some dried bulbils from real seeds - hope they take. I bought some seeds via ebay and they've all come up but if the plant doesn't set seed what the heck am I growing?
Would love some more in case these don't take and would happily pay postage and/or swap for some other seeds.

going in tomorrow's post - hope they're ok - they're starting to get too tall to cram in a tub for the post, lolmarshlander wrote:I'd love some of these if you still have spares, fruitcake.

Re: Walking Onions
I just brought one of these today from my local garden center http://www.ribblesdalenurseries.co.uk/
they had several plants in, only £1 or so in 10cm pot.
