The only two really active ingredients I can see in those pills is the garlic, and Echinacea the rest are fillers and bulking agents. which you could probably do without, increase your garlic intake, and eat more immune system boosting foods and save your money....
ps please dont take offence , im sure they do work well, but you could get just as much of an improvement without them or the added cost...

Oooh, but for someone who loads her meals with garlic every single day (and I mean it, I stink!), the tablets work so much quicker.
I wonder if it's psychosomatic? If it is, if it works, is it still a cure?

PS - I love the smell of Creosote, too. Reminds me of my childhood and my dad's mad (and unfinished) 'let's build a massive aviary at the top of the garden' project. Happy days.

Just my opinion but a feel a cure is a cure and it doesn't matter whether its psychosomatic or not..the relief to be cured is still the same

ps: bizarrely i love the smell of petrol and swafiga, my grandad was a mechanic also happy days

Any day of the week! Perfume & hairspray overdose is my biggest problem with public transport. You can't smoke on a bus but you can spray 'impulse' over everyone

For all you creosote addicts it is Potters Catarrh pastilles and yes, they do smell lovely

Absolutely. I complained in B00ts the other day as it stunk of perfume and it made my throat hurt.

I can't go into Boots, or past the washing powder / air-freshener aisles of the supermarket without sneezing like a madwoman, then coughing like a cat coughing up a hairball.

Oooh, I also love the smell of that grease that ALL mechanics and grandads had in their sheds..axle grease, I suppose it is.

what ever works for you twiglet, as you say, a cure is a cure whatever way it comes. As to the adding garlic to all your meals, medicinally that doesnt work unless you add it just before serving, cooking garlic above a quite low temp removes all its medicinal properties sadly... still tastes yummy though..
Im a creasote fan too... years ago when i was pregnant with my middle child, i craved the smell ... they had just put up new telegraph poles down in the village a mile away, each day when I could stand it no more I'd walk down there to sniff the poles.... hehehe in the end my husband was so embarrased by people asking what the hell I was doing, he creasoted me a square peice of wood the size of a matchbox to carry with me to sniff whenever I wanted.... heaven...

PatR that's just so funny . I love sniffing marker pens that smell of pear drops. Luckily when I was in England I found a garden centre selling a lot of 'old fashioned' sweets so got some actual pear drops which are heaven! So no more sniffing pens until I run out of the sweets.

I think perfume departments are dangerous. Whenever I pass near one I get a really sickly woozy headache and if I don't get out into the open air I feel like I'm going to pass out

I get a similar, although less dramatic response from mouldy citrus fruits which makes you wonder what they make perfumes from!

Spent an afternoon with family at the weekend trying to dodge their new automated air freshener

Since they got this contraption they have had non-stop coughs and are struggling to get their breath .
We said 'Perhaps it's the air freshener?' They said 'Don't be so stupid!'

my dad found the same thing happened to his cat, his home help bought a plug in air thingy, and happened to plug it in next to the radiator by the cat basket, the cat very quickly developed a wheezing cough, dad at first thought the normal hairball type thing, but it went on for more than a few days, he took moggy to the vets as it was getting much worse, the vet diagnosed asthma!! And said the cats chest was very bad, and for dad to make sure there were no artificial 'irritants' near to where he sleeps. Just as a precaution he moved the basket into his bedroom, the cat improved and within three days was fine again... one night with the basket back by the plug in and the wheezing was back.... one plug in in the dustbin....

Just updating this because earlier in the thread A&A suggested a neti pot, I watched the video and nearly fainted and thought not in this lifetime. However! As I am now on my 57th (or it feels like it) cold and my nose has been blocked since what seems like September I decided to try it. They don't sell neti pots in Boots as I suspect it is a bit hardcore, but you can buy a squeezy bottle for the same purpose. I have been doing it for a couple of days and honestly I think it is making a difference, my nose is much clearer, and it definitely helps with allergies. It feels quite counterintuitive but you get used to it. So thanks A& A! (Also I will probably do it as my party trick next Christmas. Or Halloween, with Ribena? I imagine I'll be quite in demand).
