Re: Moving Asparagus
hi fred. i believe it's not a good idea to move the asparagus as it is well established and at 3 years will have very deep roots... all the things i have read about moving it said that it would be a waste of time.. due to root damage when moving and that they will never fully recover or produce again.
they recomend starting with new rizomes. can you leave them where they are? if not, i think i would give it a try,but i would dig as deep and wide around the roots as i could and also if they survive i would treat them like new plants, in that i would not harvest the first year, that is if there is anything to harvest. you might think about buying a few new plants and planting them as well, in case the move did not work. sorry i cant help more.

Re: Moving Asparagus
We grew them from seed, and they gave us a fantastic crop i the 3rd year,
even after taking a few in the second year.
They are Jersey Knight F1 Male.
Think we will leave them as they have been so good, its just that they will now be in the middle of the lawn.
