Umm, that makes 3 of them. And this one has a receipt for the yarn dated.........

1987

No I'm not going to try to finish this one, as not only is it in a very complicated stitch (chinese lantern? ) with no pattern (I was making it up) - but what fitted 22 years ago seems a bit tight in the hip department now!

I am back knitting again though with the new wool I bought back in the spring. And then when that is finished I am really, really going to finish the one that's nearly finished that I picked up on Ish day last year, did a bit then got bored of and put aside again. Yes really!

Hey you and my wife must be related, she started knitting me a jumperr when we got engaged but the due to a superstition she has about boyfriends leaving her after she finished their jerseys she put it down.

when we moved out here last year she found it when packing, it was going to be a lovely warm aran knit, but nothing I could do :banghead: could convince her to pick it up. Infact in the time I have known her I don't think she's finsihed a jersey yet.

I believe she unravelled it and gave the wool to a friend.

Oh well perhaps one day I'll managed to get my Aran knit jumper

But it's really boring knitting things for other people! My husband keeps asking when I'm going to knit him a jumper, but he's so big it would take forever!

How long have you been married for?

I have the opposite problem - I can finish things for other people (I only knit for OH and gal) but never seem to manage to finish anything for myself. I've got loads of part knitted carcis and jumpers that I can't remember which pattern I used.

I will unpick them all one day.

I really hate sewing them up so many of the above are at or near the end!

Oh god there was very nearly a 4th one thrown in the pile! I spent hours yesterday doing the bit I hate - picking up the stitches for the neck and it was really hard, it kept going wrong and even worse I realised that being a V-neck it was more complicated than a round neck, with things like purl 2 tog into the back of the stitch! After getting into it I then realised that I was doing it on the wrong side :banghead: so I am having to unpick those stitches one by one. Aaarrrggghhhh! Round necks in future!

And I hate hate hate the sewing up too, these days I can't see very well even with my reading speccies and I finally understand why my grandma used to ask me to thread her needle for her!!!

It's the lighting MMM.

We have energy saving bulbs everywhere and they're fine for "normal life" but any close up work is damned near impossible.

So I bought myself a cheap, bendy standard lamp that I can direct just on the work I'm doing. It's got a big spotlight in it, which I'm afraid doesn't fall into the energy-saving range, but I only use it for short periods, when I can't see enough detail.

If you've got a lamp handy give it a try - works wonders.

*Ding* [brain working] Yes you are right - it's not because I'm old and decrepit! I often go into the kitchen (lots of nice spotlights) to see to do a crossword or sudoku! We did buy a standard/bendy spotlight lamp not long ago and I can't knit at all without that on (plus my glasses!) but it is closer to OH's chair than the sofa where I sit. And of course it is winter and the light levels are pretty crap right now anyway.

Oh absolutely not - I don't want an armchair when I've got the whole sofa to myself lol I guess the solution is just to nick his lamp!
