Nettle wine - not sure what it's like, but hoping to find out - there must be a reason why the little wretches keep springing up all over the garden, right?

I'm still working on the washing-up doing itself - so far, the closest I've come is a rather large dishwasher, but it doesn't work consistently, and sometimes refuses to work at all. What's that? Sorry? Why shouldn't I talk about my husband like that?

To everyone else, Hello, I'm Kate, I live in Yorkshire, and I'm trying to get more self sufficient with each passing year. Still have a way to go though. I'm interested in the nettle beer, it sounds the perfect way to use up the little blighters. What does it taste like?

Welcome to the forums... as much as I would like to try the nettle wine, nettles are seriously lacking in our garden. That's a bit worrying as I think it is a sign of poor ground but then we've been told we don't have too much in the way of top soil anyway. Perhaps it will improve once we've worked it a bit.

So now I know why all you people get married... As you can guess, I lack a dishwasher. Human or otherwise.

Hi to Kate as well! I don't have a lot of nettles either - a few keep putting up their heads, but either I nip them in the bud, or I forget to do that and they grow to large, coarse bushes - past the usefulness for kitchen purposes.

Hi and welcome just kate, it seems that we both have the same way of finding sites. I am amazed with what links into here sometimes.

Back to nettle beer, here is the recipe on here for it - although to be honest, it was crap when I made as I think I put too much yeast in. - Propally better off trying stoneheads ginger/nettle beer - sounds like it might have more taste, due to the ingredents.

- Unless someone wants to make both and have a nettle beer chalenge???

Hello to both of you! I have loads of nettles, it's a sign of nitrogen in your soil. I don't do anything with them, just leave them for the butterflies.
