I saw it too - I think it was in America? Not sure what channel it was on though. Hubby was a bit cynical about it but I thought good luck to them, chances are that what they do on that boat will affect the way they live their lives in the future :thumbright: If it raises awareness in the meantime and inspires others to have a go then job done, eh?

It's also costing a lot more to set up the whole thing than the TV story led you to believe

I seem to remember Carol Kelin (Grow Your Own Veg) saying on her TV programme that you could grow all your own veg for you and your family (I am guessing a family of 4) on a plot that is 3m by 3m squared. Ovviousely this is just veg not dairy or meat.

I've seen that figure bandied about before, and all i can say is that the people who use the figure have never tried to actually do it! Wonderful theory, but just try and put it into practice!

That's just a joke, you couldn't even grow enough spuds on that small a plot.

just looked up John Seymour's book/bible - his "5-acre plot" of good, well-drained soil should feed a family of six, with mixed farming.

it should be called a PR-boat, spin-boat or fantasy-boat !

Heh heh,
I have never tried to feed myself on 3m x 3m!! But that was just for veg, you would need 5 acres for animals to grow their fodder.

I like the eco boat, well I like the idea of it, I have been wanting to live on a boat for a while.

There is a book about called "sailing the farm" can't remember who by. It has some interesting stuff in it about being self sufficient at sea, although the author does have a "thing" for chlorophyll.......

Seems strange that the eggs come out of the chickens' behinds clean. Wonder if they have the Lion mark and a use by date on too?
Many were increasingly of the opinion that they'd all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.
