My poly tunnel hot/shade house

Post: # 160524Post Doc »

I commented on somebody elses post recently but felt that I would put my own thread to show what you can achieve with a bit of pipe, and some posts

Also helps to have a partner who is able to nag me until the job gets done :hugish:

Clear the area and wack in your posts.

Put your tube over the pipes

The original was covered with HD UV plastic but later Scarecrow (my partner) asked me to make it into a shade house.

Now is a shade house

Full destructions here.

Have recently harvested some of the water chestnuts and other stuff (Scarecrow grows, I just make)

Concept is handy for creating more shade around the place.

I'm still looking for one of those - any ideas where to get one? My mini greenhouse is still in bits...

It looks just brilliant.

You appear to have a bath in there! SandWitch was right, there are no posh Aussies. Fancy taking a bath in a polytunnel, whatever next.

AND in the shade, too...

Now if it was in the sun, and with a solar shower - maybe that's the next project?

Hi Anne A (and you other funny folk) :salute:

The principles are the same. Wack in posts, chuck on ag pipe to make a framework

Cover with shadecloth

Useful and cheap way to get shade around the place in our hot dry summer.

Hem the shadecloth and slide in on to the ends of your pipe and Bob is my brother-in-law

Great for entertaining in the driveway when we chuck another shrimp on the barby :dave:

In fact I've just thought, that would make an excellent chuck enclosure!

That's a really good idea!

I might just have to work on a plan to do something like that for my girls.
They could then climb the fruit trees and not go next door!!

Great inspiration thanks, i'd been looking for another method to make a house as i'd used up all my old wood posts, , you could try building some sheds out of pallets great for storage.

Cheers HG

For those of you who are thinking of doing a chook run, we did one using very similar materials!

Take a look at the link and you'll see our attempt... http://jsmwebber.blogspot.com/2008/12/c ... rdome.html

We had intitially bought that materials to do exactly as Doc has done, but we haven't got around to doing it yet! So thanks Doc for sharing, OH is chuffed to bits that I've found him another job to do!!

That's much easier than ploughing though a load of posts with pictures of plasterboarding! Glad it's all coming together as that was one mammoth project you took on! Good luck with it. :thumbright:
