A good reason to pay your council tax!

Wow, had a great birthday week foraging and bartering!
I am fortunate enough to live between 2 large country parks owned by the county council. Last week after watching HFW on the box, I contacted the council about obtaining squirrels and now have an arrangement with the ranger - beer in return for squirrels!
Birthday was on Saturday and my brother bought me a breadmaker... so no more sliced white bread... Hooray!!!!!!
My 3 yr old and I managed to pick tonnes of sloes in the park behind my house, 10 seconds from my back door! Sloe vodka is on the go already.

On top of this haul of windfall cider apples

gathered today in the other country park, which has an old orchard, I have more apples on the way from a friend who found a few trees on his way to work!

Good for you. I must get my neighbour onto the idea of trapping squirrels. We get loads round here and he tends to shoot them which doesn't leave a lot of meat. HFW made it look really easy to skin and gut them but I bet it isn't.

It's about as difficult as skining a rabbit, but you get about 1/3 as much meat.
