Moving to Somerset!

Post: # 172373Post Gem »

Ok so I have a new job in Somerset and will be moving from Reading in about 3 weeks. Its all very exciting to be moving to such a lovely part of the country  and I will be staying with family in Bristol for a while until I get myself sorted.

Now as I have only visited this area for summer holidays as a little'un I don't have a clue where is nice, where isn't and where it might be good to sprout some roots.

The job is based in Bridgwater but my new boss has suggested looking a little further out as it gets greener and prettier though access to train links would be really useful..

Anyone got any helpful local tips and or advice for moving to this area and where is nice? All comments gratefully received!

Good luck with moving to Somerset, my in-laws have just moved to Bridgewater and are absolutely loving it, it's really quiet there (compared with where they used to live in Charlton anyway) and the people are really friendly also! :flower:

Hi! Congrats on the new job!

I live in Weston, I have heard that Bridgewater is a nice place to live, and the smaller villages are sooo beautiful!!! I have lived here for about 6 years and I really love Somerset, (I don't drive so I am limited on the info for Bridgewater area)

Have a look around the area and enjoy! Good luck :flower:

Well done Gem and good luck with the house-hunting.

While you're in Bristol you could go to Andy's co-op and give us the low down

Thanks for all the good luck guys, can almost feel the good vibes storming my way :grouphug:

I am def hoping to pop into the coop whilst around bristol, and go on a foraging walk. My twin sis lives near st werbergs and has been pretty heavily involved in all the community stuff (the farm festival for example) so I will be taking her along too!

Oh exciting times
