Greetings from Gorgeous Tasmania Australia

Post: # 171888Post Jessiebean »

Hullo All you wise and Lovelies,
I am down in the good part of Australia trying my hand at a bit of gardening and general pottering about with my mind firmly on making do and less waste. I have a lovely husband who shares my angle on life and is forever fixing things in his shed and two little imps- Master Just Turned One likes to pick lavender (no matter how much I beg him not to) and Master Nearly Three who show much promise as a junior garden potterer and generally inquisistive chappie.
I'll bet there are a few Taswegians lurking about here too.
I look forward to omosing much of your wisdom no matter where you are from!

Welcome to ISH :flower:

I like to put a comma in the 'make, do & mend, because making, doing & mending is definately not 'making do'!

Hi there, I am surprised that there aren't more Tassie folk on this forum-there are many canny folk down here and those that love the stunning environments we have here.
I agree that making do is often not "making do!". And so much more satisfying too!

I am just popping back to say how lovely it is here- I was a memebr of a paid subscription forum and I was fidning that people were getting rather whingy and silly so I didn't renew my memebership....I went searchign for a replacement community and I have to say that Ish is far better than any other online community I have found- it is like an online version of Grass Roots or Earth Garden( two Australian Magazines).
There is a wonderful, happy, clever resourceful feel about this place!

Aha somewhat- they are officially Tasmanians but Taswegia is used to describe the state sometimes.. I will have to research why (apologies for my appalling typing above- it is lack of attention to detail not ignorance I promise!)

Probably because it is full of weegies - as we say in Scotland. i.e Glaswegians. Isn't your island also referred to as The Devil Island? :evil2:

Jessiebean, spread the word, we'd love more tassies/taswegians/tasmanians!

Please post some pics of your lovely island, as we love to drool in our cold, wet British Winter.
