I found one of those missing socks!

Post: # 170205Post Millymollymandy »

You know, those odd socks we're always talking about?

Put on a sweatshirt yesterday and there was something strange and bulky round the cuff blocking my arm, so I pushed my hand through and out popped one of my OH's white sports socks!

So really proud of myself I went to show him I'd found that missing sock, only for him to tell me 'remember that sock with a big hole it in that I showed you last week? Well I chucked that in the rag pile so the other one from that pair matched up with the odd sock that'd been sitting in the drawer for months'.......

so he's still left with an odd sock! But thank god we don't have left and right ones!

My daughter has taken to deliberately wearing odd socks as a fashion statement - which only serves to compound the issue!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Well done. I'm guessing you now either have to learn the fine art of darning, find a one-legged man who keeps losing his socks  , or make sock puppets
I do, however have a bag full of these little beasties, so could probably send you a few to try matching (the ones that don't work you can give to your new one-legged sockless friend.....)

I have worn odd socks for years. I also buy several pairs of shoes (same style, different colours) & wear odd ones of those too....

It really annoys my teenage daughter

On the subject of clothes bundled in other clothes, I remember a few years ago when we were having some work done on our old flat. We had a problem with the water supply the same day we had a plasterer in to work in one of the ceilings so I popped next door to ask to borrow a bucket of water.

As I waited in the hall while the neighbour went to fill the bucket (one of those very English neighbours who didn't like one to intrude too far into their domain) I felt something by my foot and looked down to realise that I had a pair of underpants trying to escape out of the leg of the jogging bottoms I was wearing. I was able to quickly retrieve them before she came back but that could have been very embarrassing, with the old dear next door popping round to see if I wanted my underpants back (or being too mortified at the discovery to do anything, meaning I'd have lost a pair of pants!).

richierobins wrote:I pinched a tip from the book and film "Nine And A Half Weeks". I always get black socks. They always look like a pair when you are wearing them, even if they are two odd ones. I never have to waste time matching up pairs, they go straight from the washing line to sock drawer in a heap.

jim does the same lol!!!

Me, I love stripey knee socks. Soph calls them my happy socks. I have about 7 pairs.

i tried the all black trick, but they end up different shades of grey.
so i'm trying patterns, in different colours, doing ok so far, tho we have some 'loners'
i've worn odd ones since the 80's so it doesnt bother me, much like the rest of the domestic domain causes me little or no stress lol

I really must get out of the habit of taking my boots off in the living room and putting the socks inside them while I take them upstairs. I got a pair of boots that I hadn't worn for several months, out of the wardrobe the other day and guess what? There was a pair of dirty socks inside

Cheers
Zoe

p.s. who muddled up the smilies? I can't find any of them now. Or do they just move around by themselves?

Zoe - John added a group hug and a few others which are used more often into the main smilies, which moves them all along a bit and some (like the birthday one) have gone onto the extra smilies page. For a while yesterday they moved around a bit whilst he was working on it.
