My first sewing attempts.
Re: My first sewing attempts.
OMG......
firstly well done they all look great.
Secondly.......I had the exact same thing happen when I was little. My machine was pink but it definately had a real needle which I put all the way through my finger. It is nice to know I am not the only one lol.

My apron came out quite well considering I had to do curved hems around the armpits (you can't see them in the photo, but they're not bad, even if I do say so myself). I had a bit of fabric left and so could make Katie's apron. I measured her up carefully and then made the apron in proportion to my own - completely forgetting what huge heads small children have. I had this perfect little apron that wouldn't go over her headFollowing OH's suggestion, I unpicked one side of the neck strap and sewed on a piece of velcro and it works a treat.

Well done on your projects ... the curved hems on your apron ... hmmm I learnt really quick ... straight one so much easier...

Really? I'm so pleased you told me because the memory is so real that I can still feel it*stuffed* wrote: Secondly.......I had the exact same thing happen when I was little. And thanks to everyone for your comments about the things I made. The machine hasn't been out since, and I'm still using clothes pegs as tie backs, but I have little projects planned for rainy days, such as replacing the pockets in my new jeans with some deeper ones, taking up hems, etc. It's raining today, but I think it will have to be a jam making day as we are running out of room in the freezer. Not putting it off - honest.

I must admit, even though I'm quite happy to use a sewing machine, I do much prefer sewing by hand. Whether it's patchwork or embroidery, it's much nicer to sit on the sofa with the cat on my lap and a roaring log fire sewing away. But I do end up with fingers like pin cushions.
