chick injury, Help!

Post: # 158818Post greenfingers »

the parents introduced the almost 3 month old (are they pullets yet? not sure) chickens to the mature hens and cokerel. anyway, one of them has now got a spur injury above its leg (in the muscle) and is limping. weve disinfected the wound, and left her over night (we seperated the chicks from the hens again) but shes still limping. shes putting weight on the leg, and the foot is flexing , but shes carring her foot tucked back and is putting weight on the back of it.

does anyone think its broken (ive had a look (i have a zoology bsc) but it appears to be fine) or is it simply a muscle injury?

im not an expert but from my little knowledge it sounds like you have done the right things infection would be my biggest concern as for broke or not if it is not deformed i would leave alone
as long as there is no infection i would guess a sucess full recovery is forcast but monitor well and be prepared to end suffering if required :( :pale:
but hopefully that wont be called for  good luck and happy doctoring :hugish:
try hard mean well and never give up
