I can help with the sock .. we have loads of odd black ones ... and whats weird I buy them in big pack all the same so why do I get odd ones?
J's the same - he buys all black socks...and then washes them, puts them away (not in pairs) and spends ages every morning picking one up, then trying all the others against it to find a match...

I buy multicoloured character socks and can always find a pair in the morning!! Except for when the Washing Machine God takes his sacrifice...

Has none of you read Terry Pratchett - then you'd know what happens to those socks... (Sorry, can't remember off hand which book it was.)

Socks metamorphose into coat hangers. Once upon a time, they became wire coat hangers, which were, at least, useful. Nowadays they turn into plastic ones that break in half after a few weeks. I guess it must be the man-made fabrics that socks are made of these days.

Mine don't either - but they are all hand knitted...

I spoke too soon - looked at the cheapo socks I bought from M&S and they are cotton with things like lycra in them! And I think I may have aquired a new pair of socks that might belong to my Mum or brother - trouble is as I bought a 3 pack of mixed pattern socks I'm not sure whether the grey stripey ones are mine or not!  Well it makes a changing from losing them I suppose!

Now we know where the spare socks go, to Mandy!

Back to the original comment. Not long after I started going out with my ex (not the most recent one, the one before him), I volunteered to do some washing for him. It was only when I took his trousers out of the machine that I found he'd left his wallet in them

I found spiders legs in my sandwich a couple of weeks ago. I'd used the Cut and Come Again salad that we have growign in it, and i was halfway through and there were these spiders legs...

Luckily, i think i only put legs in the sandwich...either that or one of my 7 spiders a year went down in pieces...

The worse thing I ever found was a little mouse. He must have sneaked into the pile of washing on the scullery floor and got stuffed into the machine along with the towels and knickers and everything else.
I felt so bad afterwards imagining him drowning and spinning all at the same time.

The worst think I've found in a washing machine was last week dirty laundry.
