Hiya and Congratulations!! Ireland (we think) is our ultimate destination - the ancestral homeland of my husband and to also to me but only to a minor extent. We are currently on a 10 year plan - half way through - to raise the necessary to retire there - if we decide we want to do that when the time comes. This site is brill and people are very friendly. Looking forward to reading your posts and learning more about you. Sue

There are a few people from Ireland around on here too, not sure about builders though.

Strangley enough Ireland is one of place my ancestors come from - My grandads grandad used to be a big land owner over there until he contested a will and got nothing. Been poor ever since.

Well done Mark, that sounds fantastic.

I think quite a lot of people here have plans to escape to a plot of land somewhere. I started a five year plan to achieve it for myself - about eight years ago now.

Who mentioned a plan?

Post: # 15646Post Ireland-or-bust »

I just ended up here.
Decided i could no longer contribute to the uk and its policies so i left.
went to spain first then scotland (yeah i know) then here.
Just sort of ended up here.

Its great so long as you dont mind being unemployed for the rest of your life (first time ever for me)

But on the plus side, ive not been robbed, mugged, had my washing spat at or had any dead animals posted thru my letter box so i cant complain.

Hi Mark

I just sort of ended up here in Scotland...

You never know, you might find folk here who'd like a working holiday in Ireland!

Hi,

I'm in the sunny south east of wexford.

i heard today that the buyers of my village house have their
mortgage sorted so my little farm-ette will be mine soon.
I hope to be there this time next month.
On the negative side, i wont be online owing to having no phone line.
Big leap for an ex-IT technophile. I have a drive way to dig out
first thing then i need a roof and a first floor! then only the minor luxaries
such as plumping and drainage. But i do have out buildings...
I have many plans for them and they clinched it for me.
Dont have much land but maybe able to get more later.
So if anyone wants to come and work for free in exchange for living
in a crime free , green environment with no chavs then walk this way--->

Hee hee, outbuildings! That's the one thing we just don't have enough of! Always wanted an old stone barn to go with my old stone house. Just got a modern corrugated iron one.
