Stupid time again...

So... on Sunday, after I had told my daughter that we were going to get 3 hens & keep them in the rabbit hutch & run until Andy fixed up the chook house, Gail decided to 'surprise' me by going to the local Poultry bring & buy sale..... and came round with 3 hens all squashed into the cat box!!!

So we got them into the rabbit hutch - after I cut a suitable length of Ash wood for a roosting perch, found a box for laying (hoping) and made a ladder.... The rabbit hutch is 6ft x 4 ft, so it's plenty big enough for 3 hens.

Then Leah decided to name them.... Glenda, Enid & Angelina.... And so far, so good, apart from I think there's a problem with Enid.
She was holding herself in the 'i'm not well' stance yesterday - head down, tail down & generally looking out of sorts
This morning I opened the door & she has stayed on the perch while the other 2 are out scratching about in the grass & drinking cabbage water from last night's tea.

I shall investigate later on - one question though - if it might be worms, how do I use garlic to treat? Do I just chop some & add it to their food? do I have to leave it whole?
Could it just be that she's not happy about moving? She seems fine when she's feeding, but the rest of the time, she looks right grumpy..... see, we always get the animals with mood swings....

I was told (after one of my girls did a big blood red poo) that birds react in different ways to getting moved. She might be in shock? If she is still eating and drinking that would calm me but as you say wait a while and check her again.

I also want to see what folks have to say about the garlic method.



Both of my Ladies are fine and dandy now and have been really, since day 2.
