my tomatoes hate me
what has happened to my tomato seedlings? they were fine for a while, then just sort of 'collapsed'! could i have waterlogged the earth? is it too late?! its not the position, as the chillis are right next door and happy as larry. have i got enough time to start again? and if so could i be cheeky and use the same soil?!

They don`t look too happy. It pretty easy to overdo the watering with young plants, pop one out and take a look at the roots, they should be a healthy white, if theyre brown they probably suffocated by drowning
There`s plenty of time to start over but if you`re after cherry toms the quickest way is to buy a few healthy plants and then take cuttings from them to increase the numbers.
Cuttings get going much faster than seeds.

They might be getting pot bound as well. Mine looked a bit sad at one point but as soon as I moved them up a pot size they recovered.

If you do start again don't use the same soil in case thats the problem- remember there was a manure contamination problem last year which I'm told will be in commercial composts too so just in case use fresh. (I had 3 goes with Tomatoes they all failed, got a fresh bag of compost and they have taken off big time....if you were closer you could have some of mine I don't think I will need all 75!)

d'oh! i resowed them i the same soil but i dont think its the soil cos most of my other seedlings have done well (albeit a bit slow). broccoli looks a bit floppy having said that. thanks for the offer peggy sue! luckily, as is the nature of friendly allotment folk i have already been offered some tomato plants so will probably be ok but was looking forward to some big beefy marmandes!
