i dont know if the anonimity of the net makes this any easier to discuss, but has anyone had any experience with IVF and egg donation? i have offered an 'egg' to my aunt, as I am the only biological female of the generation below her who has had her own child, and shes heart broken that her offspring will not be genetically related to her at all (if the IVF were to work with a donor egg). Even though i have been thinking about this for a while, since i told her last friday i have had an impending sense of doom, i dont know if that is my gut instinct trying to tell me something or what. i realise that it is quite an onerous task to undertake, but i also realise it could be the most amazig gift you could ever give anyone.
OH is worried that my "strong maternal instinct" (his words, not mine) will prevail and that i would never be able to see my 'cousin' as just that, i would always feel she was my daughter (or son!). I imagine there is a risk attached to the 'harvesting' procedure, i'm 23 and would like more children in the future, but time is of essence for my aunt.
My aunt would carry the baby, who would be bathed in her hormones....
i dont know. is my impending sense of doom telling me something?

Re: egg donors (IVF)
I'd do it for my sisters, but I couldn't for anyone else... I don't think there are huge problems with complications but you have to get injections and go through quite invasive procedures, from what I understand.
I don't think the child would be yours, but you would feel a much closer bond than you would for other cousins.
