Rubber egg
Rubber egg
we are new to chicken-keeping and have only 2 laying hens (out of 5) so far... one has just laid a "rubber egg" - no shell... is this anything to worry about? the other one's egg was absolutely fine.. and they all eat the same food.

Re: Rubber egg
New to laying chooks do this sometimes. to the best of my knowledge just make sure that they have plenty of calcium based grit avalible to them, and this shouldn't happen again.

Re: Rubber egg
She's just learning, you can try throwing crushed egg shells back for them to pick at to ensure that they are getting enough calcium in their diets. She may do it a couple more times until she gets the knack.
