what can i use to line hanging baskets? i was thinking scrap fabric. it's just to hold the compost in but let it be fairly free draining lol!

I use an old holey carrier bag with a few more holes poked through (with an old knitting needle) for drainage. They are the plain blue ones that are used on our local market so not too garish!

A compost bage turned inside out is often black so that would work too, but don't forget to make holes!

Fabric seems a bit extravagant to me...but I'm a keen patchworker, my left over bits are tiny!!!

If you're not in a raring hurry, Mrs F, I can send you some fresh moss from the garden - we have LOADS of ground sphagnum here - and tree sphagnum too, although there's less bugs in the ground stuff!

We have used old natural clothes mostly finished with jumpers in the past, works really well :flower:

Fab ideas!! I was thinking about the same thing, as I have quite a few to do.
Stay at home Mummy to Orin 8, Trixie 6 and Temogen 4 . Also three Chickens Dottie, Poppy and Dr Mumbo. Three cats called Flossie and Pickle and Lexi.

Hubby has just reminded me that someone once knitted a basket liner for a telly gardener....maybe you could crochet one, complete with planting holes?!
