The last owners of our house cemented all the screws into the wall instead of screwing them into rawl plugs.We had to cut some of them off with hacksaws.
They also planted a laburnum right infront of the back sliding 'patio ' window and a rose bush about 1ft away from the back door.
It is rumoured that there is an air-raid shelter under the back lawn.OH did find a place where the spade went straight through when we were digging out the pampas grass but we decided not to investigate.
Dissapointingly we havent discovered any Roman remains or other interesting stuff.

I'd better update it, I'm a week behind. I've been trying to do a pretty version of my plan to replace the back-of-an-envelope look I have at present, but it means relearning to use my graphics tablet.
Old air-raid shelters? As long as it's not the corrugated iron-roofed type, 'cos that would have ragged edges when the roof finally goes!

This thread really is a tragic tribute, isn't it?
The worst I have uncovered would probably be that wretched black weed matting stuff. It was everywhere and has taken ages to remove. We have an incinerator and it was full of 'non-burnables' when we arrived, but the ground being rocky clay was probably safe, because burying stuff would have been too much effort, i guess.

The adjoining land can get a bit waterlogged, so it also means we have good drainage for the veg. We also turned the stabling into pig pens and replaced the sauna with a workshop.Oh, and I think Scotland is still in the UK...
