HI FROM STAFFS
Hi, I'm new to this site, new to sish. Started growing my own last year, but this year am creating a plot in the garden from scratch. Can make my own butter, bread, soap, jumpers and am about to learn about cheesemaking. Would love to have chickens, but neighbours have put their foot down as we already have 6 dogs! What a great site to find, where I will be considered totally 'normal'!. Looking forward to picking everybody's brains and growing plenty!

Re: HI FROM STAFFS
Hello, and welcome! Shame about the hens - why would your neighbours object? They too could enjoy the wonderful experience of a fresh from the garden egg!

Re: HI FROM STAFFS
Thanks Shirley, To be fair to the (really great) neighbours, we dont have a huge garden, and then there was a little problem of a rat last year that found our gardens quite a bounty! I think they worry about a colony of Ratties setting up near Hens. Then, with the 6 dogs we have (albeit 5 of them are small Cavaliers), who like to run around the garden, I suppose I can understand their concerns. Especially when I look at their lovingly tended, absolutely immaculate garden. Also, perhaps the dogs would love the chickens a little too much anyway! Pity though, I adore fresh eggs (but not as much as I love my dogs and appreciate my neighbours). Take Care xx

Hi Shell, No I dont think they would, thats what I meant by 'loving them a bit too much'! The Cavaliers would probably think they were playthings. They think all things and people were put on this earth to be their playthings! Fortunately, there is a very reasonably priced stock of organic eggs at our local health food shop. Take Care, xx
