You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Ok - what can i do with leftover egg whites - NOT meringues please.
Also - how long do they keep in the fridge? Been there a week now - but they smell and lokk just fine.

Whip up and add to beaten whole eggs for an extra fluffy omelette.

I always fry them and add them to our dogs dinner, along with whole eggs sometimes when we get a glut.
She loves them.

egg whites keep a very long time in the fridge, so long as they are covered (they will dry out else)
you can also freeze them very well

suggestions:
macaroons

or.. some souffle recipes ask for more whites than yolks

There was something in the back of my mind about freezing egg whites in ice cube trays so I've been checking things out online. It seems they keep for about 4 days to a week in the fridge, but they freeze well and can be used for meringues or icing once defrosted. From what I can see it's suggeted you either freeze individual white in an ice tray or freeze in bulk - noting how many whites there are for later use.

Apparently they make a nice face mask too!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!
